History

In 1887, in the East Azarbaijan region, Iran, Hossein Rahmani founded Rahmani Enterprises, a small family-run business that produced, packed and exported an assorted range of dried fruits and nuts to Russia. An enterprising businessman for his times, Hossein Rahmani knew that the only way the business could expand to new markets was to improve the intrinsic value of what he believed, were already products of a superior quality.

The year 1931 is hailed as a watershed year in the history of the company. The first factory using specialised European technology, for sorting and packaging dried fruits and nuts was inaugurated. In 1946, the ‘Sunraisy’ brand was instituted and for the very first time, the company commenced exports to England & Germany.

Mohsen Rahmani joined the company in 1954 to give the company a stronger focus and a clearer vision. Under him the pace of acquisitions and growth quickened. The next few decades witnessed the construction of four factories with the most advanced washing, sorting and packaging lines, at the time. Exports to Russia and Europe flourished. Production lines were completely mechanised using the latest European technology.

In 1990, Rahmani Enterprises was renamed as the East Azarbaijan Co. Mohsen Rahmani set forth with a passionate fervor to enhance the position of the company in terms of growth, performance and value, with a focus on Europe and the GCC. The construction of four state of the art factories, complete with the latest in laser sorting European technology, followed.

In 1992 a sales office was set-up in Belgium. In the same year and later in 1994 and 1996, four more was state-of-the art factories were constructed. Today, the warehouse within the factory meets all the storage requirements of the company.

The latest in laser sorting technology was acquired from Europe in 1998. With expertise of the highest standards, the production capacity multiplied and the quality of the fruit was now the finest ever seen. The company had developed an excellent reputation for quality, experience and choice with the fruit & nut industry throughout the world.

The company was awarded with several international awards for its consistent efforts and dedication to Quality - the ‘European Quality Award’ from France, the ‘American Award of Quality’ and the ‘German Food Quality Award’ to name a few. The company was also awarded by the Government of Iran as the ‘Exporter of the Year’ for three consecutive years.

In the year 2000, a fifth factory was built. In the following year, the company invested in X-ray sorting technology that was implemented across all production lines and yet another fully operational state of the art factory was opened under the license of Mani & Co. with a vision of creating a new retail brand. Mani & Co. has a well-established, organized distribution chain as well as a fleet of delivery vans that ensure smooth, extensive operations all over Iran.
Early in 2002, with operations predominantly administrated by Mani & Co. Iran, extensive research was conducted by the Department of Research & Development on the market in the Middle East & Europe. The findings proved conducive to proceeding with an expansion plan.

In 2004, Mani & Co. launched ‘Mani’ its own retail brand. Supported by seven factories in Iran with an annual production capacity of 52,000tons, Mani & Co opened its offices in Brussels, Belgium and also started its operations from Dubai, UAE.
